Survivors Speak – Extracting Lessons from Stories of Survival

Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre

Designed for teachers instructing Grades 7-9.

These lesson plans explore stories of survival from the Holocaust by survivors who immigrated to South Africa after the Holocaust and end of WW2. These stories are from the JHGC publication Portraits of Survival. Vol 1: The Holocaust. Each lesson plan also includes an interactive activity based on the story’s key theme to nurture engagement and dialogue in the classroom.

Teachers and schools can request our educators to speak to their students and conduct online sessions and workshops. To obtain further complimentary items and content, such as books, films, podcasts and a virtual tour of the JHGC, please contact Mduduzi Ntuli - mduduzi@jhbholocaust.co.za.
